Galileo Software - Winter 1996 Catalog and Prices.
All Galileo products are commercial software, not freeware or shareware, and are made available on public networks strictly on a "try-it-before-you-buy-it" basis. Individuals have 45 days to evaluate them; teachers and other educational officials have 90 days. The purchased versions all come with some extra features and enhancements.
Purchase includes a license for the user and their immediate family to use that product on any of their personal computers. Seven¬ purchase includes the right to non-commercial distribution of hypermedia created using it. But it does not include the right to distribute commercially any books or hypermedia projects created with our system, nor the right to distribute Galileo¬ for use with non-Galileo stacks or programs. Please contact us for details on licensing for those purposes.
Different packages available.
Since you need Seven in order to use the Galileo Library, and since, unless you already have HC 2.2 or 2.3, you need Galileo to use Seven, we offer packages containing these on three different levels. Each larger package contains the smaller ones.
We treat Galileo¬ as a separate product since it can be used with any HC stacks, not just ours, and people may use it for other purposes. But we are effectively including it with the Seven¬ package, and would like to emphasize that you get a great deal more for that extra ten dollars. Including registration as a Seven user, upgrade discounts, the opportunity to purchase additional book sets at discounted rates, and the right to download materials off of our web site that will not be made available to the general public.

Package 1: Galileo¬ 2.2 and 2.3 - $ 29.95.
Includes the following:

The 2.3 version is available in three formats: for just 68K machines, for just PowerPCs and the fat version which works on all Macs. We normally send the fat version, but you may choose one of the others if you desire. Additional versions are available for $ 9.95 each.
Package two: Seven¬ and Galileo¬ - $ 39.95.
Includes everything in Package 1, plus all of the following:
Simple Seven 2.1 template.
Solo Seven 2.1 template.
Extended Seven 2.2 complete. A set of at least 18 different stacks.
Glindex stack template.
Basic map collection. Mostly black-and-white, with some colored maps.
Extended Seven Atlas.
Seven Help¬.
All three versions of Seven¬ plus both versions of Galileo plus some extra utilities, some sample books and the first edition of our map collection. The current versions, as of January 1996, are Simple Seven 2.1, Solo Seven 2.1 and Extended Seven 2.2. This is Solo Seven 2.1. The Simple version contains only one main set of fields and one of buttons, while the other two each include two of fields and four of buttons. The Simple and Solo versions are entirely self-contained and include their own resources. The Extended version stacks have very few, if any, resources at all, and depend entirely on a set of 14-16 stacks-in-use. Our ebooks are usually shipped in this format, but can easily be switch to or from any other version.
Once Seven is purchased, 2-disk book sets may be purchased at $ 9.95 each. There are currently three different collections: American, European and Asian. Each sets contains from 5-8 complete books.
Package 3: Galileo Library Collection - $ 59.95.
Includes everything in Package 2, plus all of the books and maps in the current edition of the Galileo Library. This is dozens of stacks, picts and assorted materials. It includes over two dozen complete books, hundreds of assorted readings, a set of maps, plus a complete hypermedia and electronic publishing system to tie it all together. Hopefully, it will all soon be available on a CD-ROM, but for now it takes up about 8-10 heavily compressed disks. Quite a package!

Book formats and Seven versions:
All books are normally shipped in the Extended Seven format, the most powerful one, but can be easily transformed from one version to another. Indicate above if you want books in the Simple version instead. Because of their greater size and the fact that each book requires a complete set of all necessary resources, we do not normally ship books in the Solo version, and add a surcharge when we do so. Contact us for details.
